It’s been such a nice week of ‘nothingness’ and I’m incredibly sad to know that I’ll have to go back to my usual routine on Monday. Ugh.
It’s not really been a week of nothing. It’s actually been decently busy. I managed to do a lot of what I wanted to get done. I made my own butter and some lavender-vanilla lotion (which works wonders for my hands), and I even baked Sean some cookies. I worked a little bit on Wednesday on a website for a friend and went to knit group, and I helped my mom paint her dining room. I oiled my spinning wheel down (and the color of the wood is a LOT better now) and even spun some yarn. And that was all Monday-Thursday!
Friday Sean came home from work early and surprised me with a trip to the zoo! So we packed up our picnic bag with lunch and snacks and headed to the Columbus Zoo for a day of photo-taking and just enjoying the nice day and each other’s company in general. The zoo wasn’t very busy, surprisingly, so we ended up looking at everything (we normally only see half of it at a time and come back on another day to do the other half). After that we drove around exploring some areas we’ve not really been to much and I found Temptations (what kind of knitter would I be to not try to find a yarn store?!? LOL). Unfortunately…. I didn’t know they closed at 5pm on Fridays and we were there after 5. I had no idea and felt awful. The owner let me in and was very kind to let me look around and shop anyway, which was very incredibly sweet of her. I did manage to come away with 2 skeins of ShibuiKnits Sock yarn in the Seaweed colorway. I’m going to use it for the Mystery Sock class that Temptations has coming up in April. And I saw a LOT of yarn that I would love to have in my stash at the shop, so I’m thinking I’m going to be spending quite a chunk of money there in the somewhat near future. If I can remember how to get there… lol.
Today has been fairly relaxed, probably because I’m so tired from all the walking yesterday. We went to the grocery store instead of our usual Sunday trip since I was home. We spent more on ‘extra’ stuff than we did food! But we got a new birdfeeder and a big bad of birdseed for the backyard and a new pizza/bread stone. I also bought a set of pint canning jars because I needed something to store our honey in that wasn’t plastic so I could heat it up in some hot water to keep it from turning to a crystalized mess. And the jars will come in handy soon when I start trying to can various things.
Anyway, enough rambling. Off to work on finishing my Elfine’s sock. I’m on the last one and I’ve done the heel and now I’m working on the cuff. I’m thisclose to being done with it so I can start a new sock (Which I’m very anxious to do)! I’ll leave you with this adorable picture I took of a Red Panda, who is the cutest thing ever.

The panda is beautiful. I love his deep red color.
I’m glad you had a lovely and relaxing vacation.
