I feel a quilt spree coming on. I have had some fabric for one sitting in my closet for some time now and I think its about time that I dug it out and put it to good use. I love a good, warm, cozy quilt. Something to curl up under with a good book, or with knitting on the couch.
My last quilting adventure wasn’t really that successful. I ended up with a quilt, although it is quite literally falling apart because I had no idea how to do the binding on the edges. So I’m going to have to find someone to help me with that, I think. But it is cozy and warm.
I think I need something super basic/easy. I’m thinking a stripes quilt. Just a bunch of vertical stripes so I don’t have to worry about matching up corners. what do you think?

Yes, yes, it’s not Thanksgiving yet. However, pumpkin spice is what the colorway of this roving was called that I finally finished spinning.

It’s a Corriedale-cross wool from Gale’s Art on etsy, and it took me forever to spin. Seriously. I read somewhere that 4 ounces of one type of fiber may produce x yards while 4 ounces of another fiber may produce a lot more or a lot less based on the density of the fiber. Never really believed it because, so far, the fibers I’ve spun have all been fairly fast to spin. This, though…. this has been in the works for quite some time. And I’ll admit that I haven’t quite finished plying it all up yet. What you see in the photo is about 380 yards of yarn. I’d guess it’s around a lace weight. What the heck am I going to do with lace weight? Are the knitting gods telling me that I need to suck it up and learn to become a true lace knitter?
I’m going to see how many yards I end up with after I finish plying up the rest of the fiber and find a project (or five) from there. I think another lacey beaded scarf would look cute with the colors in this yarn and I have some teeny tiny gold beads that would look lovely against the oranges and pinks. I suppose maybe I could try an easy shawl or wrap and add beads to it to make it interesting, too. Anyone have suggestions? I’m very much not a lace weight knitter but it seems that it’s all I can manage to spin. Maybe next time I’ll try doing a 3 ply so it ends up a bit more like a fingering weight. I can always use fingering weight for socks.
